The taste, style and sounds of New Orleans will abound during Lendonwood Gardens’ annual fundraising gala, set for Saturday, June 1. Held on the grounds of the botanical garden in Grove, the gala theme of “Night Time in New Orleans” will be reflected in a catered gourmet menu, live music and outdoor ambiance.
Tickets to the gala are $40 per person and may be reserved by calling Lendonwood at 918-786-2938. The event begins at 6 p.m. at the garden, located at 1308 Har-Ber Road in Grove. All proceeds will be used to help maintain and improve the Gardens for the public’s enjoyment.
Dress for the outdoor event is “summer casual,” said Cindy Reynolds, chair of the gala committee.
In addition to food and music, the evening will include a silent auction, featuring a wide range of choice items for spirited bidding as the evening progresses, Reynolds said. Auction items will include a five-night stay in a Key West condo, catered picnic for 10 by Broclee’s Restaurant, dinner for two at La Casita Restaurant, one-year family membership to the YMCA, and a Big Bubba Riding Tube and tow rope by Arrowhead Marine.
Also available for bidding will be a family history package by experienced genealogists, golf packages for four at Patricia Island and two other courses, a year of the “Soup of the Month” by Chickanella’s restaurant, a two-night stay at Serenity Point on Grand Lake, and many more items.
Music for the gala will be provided by “Sonny D and the Invisibles,” back by popular demand after last year’s enjoyable evening. Sonny D, a native of New Orleans, promises several musical selections with the flavor of “The Big Easy.”
Deadline for gala ticket purchase is Saturday, May 25, in order to plan for food; checks for tickets may be mailed to Lendonwood Gardens, P.O. Box 450542, Grove, OK 74345.
