October 10, Fabric Wrapped Coiled Baskets (Make a beautiful basket in just a couple of hours! This basket is not your ordinary cotton clothesline basket. It is made with upholstery cord which makes it very sturdy and allows for a sizeable basket. All you need is a sewing machine, 1 inch fabric strips and cording and basic sewing tools. Cording will be provided—you bring fabric, sewing machine and matching thread. 1:00-4:00pm., fee is $40)
October 15, Preschool Harvest Workshop (Shuck and grind corn like a pioneer! Discover what bubble wrap and corn on the cob have in common! 10:00-11:00am, fee is $5, ages 3-5)
October 17 and 18, Advanced Weaving, (Create a handwoven infinity scarf. Scarves will be woven with bamboo using student’s choice of twills, M and W or rosepath patterns. 9am-4pm both days, fee: $130)
October 17, Lye Soap Workshop (Make pure natural soap from lye and lard, the same way the pioneers did. You will gain the knowledge and experience needed to make your own additive free soap, at about one third the cost of soap purchased at the store. Participants in the workshop will also learn how to use homemade soap to make liquid cleaner and laundry soap for further savings. The cost of the workshop includes recipes and directions for soap, laundry soap, molds, hints on natural additions that will make specialty soaps for use and gift giving, and two bars of homemade soap. 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, fee: $20)
October 17, Quilting Round Robin (Grand Lake o’ the Cherokees Quilt Guild presents a round-robin workshop (students rotate from one station to another). Instructors and their techniques are as follows: Linda Nonken, traditional needle-turn applique; Kathy Hunt, needle-turn applique using freezer paper; Peggy Johnson, a modern needle-turn applique technique utilizing the back of the fabric for marking. After lunch, students will continue to work on sample projects with instructors available for assistance. 10am-2pm, fee: $15 or $10 for Quilt Guild or HBV members plus a $5 materials fee)
October 24, 4th Annual Historical Haunted Halloween (Children’s Carnival, crafts and costume parade 3:30-5:30pm, ages up to 9. Storytelling, living history reenactments, ages 9 and up, 5:30 – 7:30 pm, fee: $7)

October 31, Advanced Counted Cross Stitch (To participate in this advanced class you should already understand and be able to do counted cross stitch. We will be learning how to work on linen and add embellishments like beads and metallic threads. Class fee includes linen fabric, floss, needle, and instructions. 9:30-12:30, fee: $35.
October 31, Crochet an Edge with Thread (Have you ever wanted to recreate the beautiful edging you have seen on pillows or towels? Then this is the class for you! Learn how to put a basic repeating shell stitch on a kitchen towel. The class fee includes the towel, thread color of your choice, crochet hook and instructions. 1:30-4:30, fee: $20)
November 14, Sausage Making Workshop, (Learn how easy and inexpensive it is to make delicious sausage at home. Workshop participants will learn how to prepare several kinds of sausage in this workshop, including bulk breakfast sausage, Italian sausage and kielbasa. Participants will grind meat, mix seasonings, stuff sausage casings, and sample the results at the end of the workshop. 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, fee: $40)
November 14, Needle Tatting (Tatting is an heirloom type of lace making that can be done with a shuttle or a needle. In this class we will use the needle to learn the basics of tatting. Supplies included in the class fee are a set of 6 needles, a booklet, your choice of color thread and instructions. 9:30-12:30, fee: $35)
