NEO’s theatre department to present Quilters
Miami, Okla. – Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 – The Fine Arts Department at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO), is preparing for the 2014 musical, Quilters by Molly Newman and Barbara Damashek. Opening night to the public will be March 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts auditorium and will continue to run March 7-8 at 7:30 p.m. and March 9 at 2:00 p.m.
Prices are $12 for adults and $8 for seniors. NEO students, faculty and staff are admitted free with ID.
Synopsis of Quilters
Quilters is a moving homespun musical about the hardy women who struggled and survived on the rugged American frontier. Piecing together a mosaic of country, folk, and bluegrass music, and energetic folk dance sequences and stories recalling the joys, challenges, and terror of frontier life, a family recounts the past struggles and the optimism of what is to come.

The Calico Quilt Guild of Miami will be set up in the lobby of the Fine Arts building during each performance, displaying a few of their items. The Calico Quilters’ goal is to bring quilters together to share, enjoy, teach and learn the art of quilting. This organization also provided some materials to use as props for NEO’s production of Quilters.
