The Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament is set for Monday, July 15th, at Patricia Island Golf Club. The event serves as a significant fund raiser for the organization and the shot-gun start, four-man scramble format is set to get underway at 9:00 am, with lunch and an awards gathering immediately following completion of play. The lunch is being provided and prepared by Food Channel famous Clanton’s Café in Vinita along with the restaurants food purveyors.

Individual participants will be assigned to teams lacking a full compliment of players or will used to make up additional teams.
The tournament will be organized into an A and B flight with first and second place prized awarded in each flight. In addition to the flight winners, hole-in-one opportunities will be provided to win some serious prizes as well as the usual longest drive, closest-to-the-pin and longest putt. But most will walk away winners as a host of door prizes will be handed out during the post tournament festivities.
According to Grand Lake Chamber Executive Director Rusty Fleming, it’s all about fun and profit, Fleming said, “This is certainly a significant revenue producer for your chamber, but were striving to set our tournament apart by maximizing the fun with some unique extras. Each golfer will have the opportunity to purchase a golf package prior to the start of play which will include three Mulligans and a skirt.”
Fleming added, “Most veterans of scramble format tournaments are familiar with the traditional do-over a mulligan represents, but a skirt allows a player to move up to the ladies tee box on any hole of their choice. The golf packages will be $25.00 per player.”
Patricia Island’s Andy Stewart has a few wrinkles up his sleeve to make the tournament memoroable and unique as well. There will be an opportunity at the turn for each team to make an eight foot putt which will allow them to record a score of one on any hole of their choice, For $5.00 each team member will get two chances to make the putt.
Stewart added, “We also will have our famous “Spin the Wheel” in action. It might best be compared to the Wheel of Fortune game show. Players will spin the wheel, for a fee for a good cause, for an opportunity to record a score of one through five on a specific hole. I guarantee you that at Patricia Island were all about a good time.”
