Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake Thank You Poem to Shelter Workers and Volunteers

Hello, my name is Butch.  Fortunately for me, I’ve been living at the Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake for some time now.  I was abandoned a while back and brought to the shelter for care.  I was diagnosed with heartworm, and if left untreated, I  would have been become very ill.  With special thanks to the Second Chance shelter, I have been treated and am now cured and ready for my forever home.  As you can see from my picture, I am not a cute, small puppy which are quickly adopted.  I am, however, a very well behaved, laid back soul that would love to be a couch potato.  I want to give special thanks to the shelter workers and volunteers who have helped me get well and strong.  They visit me every day with encouraging words, take me for walks, and give me hugs and special treats, and tell me my new family will be soon coming for me.  The below thank you poem is for their hard work and dedication to all the homeless shelter animals.

Butch

“Animals didn’t ask to be put on this earth, yet they became living souls from the moment of birth.  So how can we treat them with such little respect to just throw them away when they are less than perfect.

The numbers are so high, shelters just can’t keep up, yet try as they may for each sweet, little pup or kitten.  The heartaches are many, for they can’t save them all.  The faces so many, they can’t even recall.

The answer is so simple, I can’t believe it’s not done.  Just stop the breeding and the battle would be won.  But so many people are just ignorant of the cause.  The breeding won’t stop ’til it’s put into laws.

To those who keep trying to save lives every day, no matter how heavy in their heart it does weigh.  I say special prayers every day just for you – for strength and for guidance to just get you through.

For tomorrow will bring yet more heartache and pain, and for all of your patience I know it must drain.  Yet you never give up, just keep plugging along to save the lives of those who have done nothing wrong.

So to you I say thanks from the bottom of my heart.  I know it’s not much, but at least it’s a start.  There are so many days you must feel no one cares of the sacrifice you give, yet there is nothing that compares.” (Author Unknown)
